DegreeWorx explains college degrees, financial aid and student loans in plain English. We also build free tools that help you find scholarships and plan how to pay for school.
What we do
Paying for college is confusing, and the rules change often. We try to make it simple. Our guides cover four main topics:
- Student loans: limits, repayment plans, forgiveness and refinancing.
- Financial aid and scholarships: the FAFSA, grants, work-study and how to find scholarships.
- Online degrees: how online programs work and how to check a school.
- Colleges and degree types: what each degree is and what it can lead to.
Our free tools include the Scholarship Matcher, the Funding Gap Calculator and our 2026 federal student loan limits guide.
How we research
We use official sources first:
- Federal Student Aid (studentaid.gov) and the U.S. Department of Education
- Federal law and regulations (the Federal Register and the eCFR)
- College Scorecard and other federal college data
- The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics for jobs and pay
- Each school’s own website for prices and programs
Every article lists its sources at the bottom, with links straight to the official page.
How we keep facts current
Student aid rules changed a lot in 2026, and they will keep changing. So we check our facts on a schedule:
- Student loan and aid facts: every July, when the new school year’s rules start.
- School profiles and college prices: every six months.
- Big rule changes and court rulings: as soon as we can after they happen.
Every article shows the date it was published. If we change it later, it also shows the date it was updated.
How we write
Our articles are written by the DegreeWorx Team. We use AI tools to help us research and draft. Before an article goes live, its facts are checked against the official sources listed at the bottom of the page.
We are independent
DegreeWorx is not a government agency. We are not part of the U.S. Department of Education, and we do not work for any school or lender. Our guides and tools are free. Some links are affiliate links, and our Affiliate Disclosure explains how they work. We do not show ads.
Our story
DegreeWorx started in 2017 with profiles of online colleges. In 2026 we rebuilt the site, updated every guide for the new federal student loan rules and added free tools.
